The African ancestors who struggled, suffered and overcame the enslavement of their people on the island now known as Haiti and the Dominican Republic are one. Without their persistence of spirit, our generation of lofty but attainable dreams simply would not exist. The senseless and degrading "willie lynching" of their descendants, therefore, is a dishonor to what the people endured and the lives they fought so hard to free into the possibility of their highest potential.
