SHIFT: Pop Up Experiments - Fall 2018
SHIFT: Pop Up Experiments Maplewood, NJ
Weds, Sept 5, 12, 19 and 26, 2018 @ 6 - 9PM
"SHIFT" is a series of Pop Up art classes developed by artist / musician Nadïne LaFond presented in select communities, featuring a rotating range of visual arts media and concentrating on total experimentation for the purpose of empowering expression. Beyond skills sharing, the focus is using visual arts as a vital form of exploration. With 4 weekly classes, each featuring a particular medium and each session building upon the next, the Pop Ups are perfect for mixing studious investigation and fun creative exploration. Each series highlights a teaching artists collaboration and concentrates on a particular theme to be de-constructed then fully realized together with students in class.
Perfect for trying out a new medium or digging deeper into a current discipline, this series aims to sharpen the tools of current visual artists as well as introduce to non-visual artists some foundational techniques on image making via drawing, painting, mixed media and assemblage and translating them into meaningful dialogue around a particular theme. By the end of the course, students will be able to create their own meaningful imagery with simple materials, an understanding of visual language and a wide open imagination. Artists in dance, music, literature and other disciplines are welcomed.
